The project that tenor David Mazzoni, pianist Marco Medici, and violinist Pierpaolo Ugolini have prepared especially for the Festival is a tribute to all the popular and classical music of the Italian regions, with special attention to the masterpieces of the great Puccini, given that we are in his homeland.
The gypsy style combined with the mastery of the performing Maestros aims to create a show for all ears, fostering a “joyful listening” atmosphere. From the operatic arias of Puccini and Verdi, we will occasionally move to the great Neapolitan, Tuscan, Calabrian, and Sicilian classics, not forgetting to acknowledge the creations from Abruzzo, Marche, and beyond. The common thread is the late 1800s period, when even those who were musically illiterate could create immortal melodies with a guitar, a mandolin, or a simple kazoo, melodies that have traveled and continue to travel around the world, thanks also to the gypsy musicians who relied solely on memory as their recorder.
